Back To School

Back to School today for my girls. Ready for the second semester.
Funny how fast the year flies by after Christmas break.

Rainy, Snowy Sadness

Hello!

I normally would say happy Saturday. But its a very gloomy sad one here. I am so sad to say we are mourning the loss of one of the students in my Daughter's school. A 12 year old that was lost to suicide. A beautiful young soul who had so much ahead of her. I was not fortunate to have known her as she was one year younger than my oldest, but her loss will be felt just as deeply. 

On Monday there will be many questions I am sure from her peers, and I pray that the Teachers are able to lead with grace as well as compassion. No child should have to learn of this at such a tender age. 

Hug all those that you love and hold them close.

Corner to Corner

Hello!

I am so happy to show my newly learned crochet pattern. Corner to corner. I am excited because as a do it yourself crocheter, I have always stuck to line by line crochet. But now that I learned this one, I am very happy to get back into crochet. It is much more entertaining. The possibilities are endless.

We have been busy busy. 

Hubs is getting treatment in Arizona so we have been traveling again. But at least we are closer to Arizona, driving distance. I am much happier. 

Not as happy as I will be when we are all done with this.

I have two New Year goals for 2016.
One, to drink my veggies. So I have been trying some different green juices. Some are better than others. (More on that later). And two, I want happy mugs. My starter mug is the gold owl fron my bestie over Christmas. This one pictured is my 3rd fun mug. I will post more later when my mug rack gets here from Amazon. Excited!!!!

Back on track

Hello, Happy Happy Wednesday!

The past month has been a crazy emotional one. My husband was blindsided with health issues and it has thrown us as a family and me as a wife into a vortex of emotion and uncertainty. I finally feel like I am climbing out and ready to live with our new normal.

Weather's great, yard is growing, trees blooming and the clean up is never ending, but I love it!

Last Thursday, at our school PTA meeting, the staff surprised us with a lovely thank you breakfast. It was great!

Beachy Decor....

Happy Wednesday!

I have been checking out Pinterest lately for beachy decor ideas. 

My girls have been bugging me for days now about changing up their room. I blame their good friend who just redid her bedroom (you know who you are... ha ha  : )). 

I am very hesitant to do anything big since we just did their room in August of 2014. But a refresh sounds ok to me. So they decided on a beach theme. Since they already have turquoise all over their room, it seems like an obvious choice. Soooo.... On to pinterest, and ebay I go. 

My oldest daughter has already been trying to paint some signs and such, and I thought I would hang some grass skirts over the windows and find some beachy throw pillows and blankets. 

I have to admit, with this tricky spring like weather we have been having, I kinda like this project.

Dreaming of Springtime

Hello. 

Happy Friday. 

Sorry I have been absent, I have been fighting a Migraine headache for the last two days. Yuk. 

The only thing that was making it somewhat bearable is the beautiful weather. I admit, the sun doesnt make my head feel any better, but its warm.

54 degrees in January, yes!

Its got me thinking about gardens, and flowers, and capri pants and sandals. 

Love it.

Hair Barrette Hanging Ideas...

Homemade Refrigerator Pickles...

A few weeks back I made some wonderful homemade refrigerator pickles. YUM!

My girls and I are huge pickle eaters. 

One jar was made with garlic and two dill ones. 

So Easy!

Ingredients

• 6 cups thinly sliced pickling cucumbers (about 2 pounds)
• 2 cups thinly sliced onion
• 1 1/2 cups white vinegar
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds

• 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
• 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
• 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
• 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
• 4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced

Preparation

Place 3 cups cucumber in a medium glass bowl; top with 1 cup onion. Repeat procedure with the remaining 3 cups cucumber and remaining 1 cup onion.

Combine vinegar and remaining ingredients in a small saucepan; stir well. Bring to a boil; cook 1 minute. Pour over cucumber mixture; let cool. Cover and chill at least 4 days.

Note: Pickles may be stored in the refrigerator for up to one month.
